This show is a mix of Wild Western motifs that Will Barker explores from oil paint to pen and ink. Each work in this show portrays action, drama, humor and nostalgia with hints of surrealism and laced with details. As an artist, Will is inspired by a romanticized vision of the Wild West. The rugged landscapes of Colorado and the greater Rocky Mountain region consistently pull him back in time to an era of exploration, hope, adversity, and even lawlessness that is possibly our most poeticized time period in our country's history. I pull ideas from western films, old ballads by the likes of Marty Robbins and Willie Nelson, other western artists past and present, and my own wandering imagination. Please join him in February and March to celebrate the old wild west through his fine art with revolving works. 

Will Barker is a RiNo Arts District member focusing on murals and fine art. He works from his studio in Globeville and you can see many of his western style murals around the city of Denver and across the country. Will has had an unconventional trip to become a full-time artist here in Denver where he has resided for a decade now. Originally from Philadelphia, Will played football for the University of Virginia  as an offensive lineman and eventually onto a short, but active career in the NFL playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins before pursuing his passion in painting.
